Hope and Renewal: A Nowruz Wish for Displaced Communities Worldwide

Displaced International (DI) extends heartfelt wishes to all celebrating Nowruz and the new solar year, including displaced communities worldwide. This ancient festival, dating back over 3,000 years, marks the arrival of spring and symbolizes renewal, hope, and the enduring spirit of humanity.

Recognized by UNESCO in 2009 as part of the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Nowruz transcends borders, bringing together diverse cultures in shared celebration. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 21 as International Nowruz Day, acknowledging its role in promoting peace and solidarity among communities.

As Nowruz-belt nations plant trees to rejuvenate their environment and combat climate change, we are reminded of the festival’s emphasis on harmony with nature. We commend the resilience of those who continue to honor their traditions, even in challenging circumstances. Displaced Afghans at home and abroad, despite any bans, will celebrate this occasion with the unwavering spirit that defines Nowruz.
