Ro Mayyu Islam
Ro Mayyu Islam is a Fellow at Displaced International (DI) and a dedicated human rights activist, researcher, and advocate for the Rohingya community and displaced populations. As the Founder and Executive Director of the Rohingya Genocide Prevention Research Network (RGPRN), he documents atrocities, amplifies the voices of victims, and passionately advocates for justice, accountability, and peace. Ro works tirelessly to combat misinformation and hate speech while providing critical emergency support to the Rohingya community.
In his role as Spokesperson for the Rohingya Graduation For Hope Institution (RGFI), Ro champions the educational aspirations of displaced Rohingya youth, recognizing the transformative power of education in shaping a brighter future. As an Arakan Issue Analyst, he provides essential insights into Myanmar’s Rakhine State and plays a pivotal role in shaping global responses to the ongoing crisis.
Ro also serves as a Political Analyst at the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention, contributing to initiatives such as Voice of Rohingya Women and Students, where he empowers women and tackles gender-based violence. He is actively involved in ethical journalism through his work with Rohingya Vision News and serves as a Global Ambassador Fellow at the International Council on Human Rights, Peace, and Politics. In this capacity, Ro engages with global human rights leaders, shares the experiences of his community, and contributes to international dialogues on peace and justice.
Ro holds a B.A. in Political Science and Public Administration, is pursuing a B.A. in English Language and Literature, and has a Diploma in Scientific Research Methods. Fluent in Rohingya, English, Burmese, and Bangla, his publications—including Rohingya Genocide: A Detailed Analysis of the 2024 Conflict in Arakan—reflect his unwavering commitment to justice and the rights of the Rohingya people. Recognized for his advocacy, Ro is an Ambassador for Bridging Gap and a member of Bangladesh CIVICS. Through his tireless efforts, he remains a powerful and influential voice for the Rohingya people and other stateless communities.
