Qiyamu Din Ikram

Qiyamu Din Ikram is a Fellow at Displaced International (DI). He is an Afghan-born climate migration and youth advocate currently residing in Germany. With a deep passion for addressing the nexus of climate change, migration, and displacement, he brings a unique perspective shaped by his lived experiences and academic expertise. Ikram holds a Master of Science in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security from the United Nations University and the University of Bonn, where his research highlighted the links between climate change, conflicts, and human displacement. 

Professionally, Ikram has worked with global organizations such as the World Bank, FAO, JICA, and UNDP-funded projects, contributing to projects on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. His efforts have centered on addressing the needs of communities vulnerable to environmental risks. As a Refugee Fellow with Refugees International, Ikram has been a prominent voice in key international climate forums, including SB-56, SB-58, and SB-60 meetings, as well as Conferences of the Parties (COP) such as COP26, COP28, and COP29, and the Global Refugee Forum. He consistently advocates for inclusive policies to support refugees and displaced individuals disproportionately affected by climate change and disasters. 

Ikram is also actively involved in youth-led initiatives, working with organizations such as the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY), the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, and Care About Climate. Through these platforms, he amplifies the voices of young people in global climate policymaking and drives forward youth-centric solutions. Through his advocacy, research, and professional engagements, Ikram remains committed to fostering inclusive and equitable climate action, protecting vulnerable populations, and advancing climate justice on a global scale.
